According to Law no. 20 of 2003 chapter
VI article 13 paragraph 1, line consists of formal education, non-formal, and
informal can complement and enrich each other. Formal education is a structured
educational pathways and tiered consisting of elementary education, secondary
education, and higher education. Non-formal education is the path of education
outside the formal education that can be implemented in a structured and
tiered. Informal education is the family education and environmental pathways.
Level of Education
Qualification is the stage of
education set by the level of development of learners, the objectives to be
achieved, and the capabilities developed. (Law no. 20, 2003 chapter 1, article
1, Section 8). Formal education consists of elementary education, secondary
education, and higher education.
1. Basic Education Level
Primary education is education
that underlies secondary education. Basic education shaped Elementary School -
general - (SD) and Elementary School – islamic educatiion- (MI) or other forms
of equals and Junior High School (SMP) and junior secondary school (MTs), or
other forms of equals.
2. Study of Secondary Education
Secondary education is a
continuation of basic education. Secondary education consists of general
secondary education and vocational education. Secondary education shaped High
School (SMA), Madrasah Aliyah (MA), Vocational School (SMK), and Madrasah
Aliyah Vocational (MAK), or other forms of equals. Secondary education in
relation to the bottom serves as a continuation and expansion of basic
education, and in relation to the above prepares students to attend higher
education or enter the workforce.
3. Study of Higher Education
Higher education is education
after secondary education includes diplomas, bachelor's, master's, specialist,
and doctoral degrees are held by the college. Higher education was organized to
prepare students to be members of the community who have the academic ability
and / or professionals who can implement, develop and / or creating science,
technology and / or art.
In order to achieve this goal of
higher education institutions carry out the mission of "three
responsibilities" of higher education, including education, research, and
community service within the scope of the homeland of Indonesia as a unitary
national education area.
Educational unit called higher
education college which can take the form of academic, technical colleges, high
schools, institutes, and universities. The output of higher education are
expected to fill the needs of a diverse society. In terms of learners reality
show that their interests and talents diverse. Based on these factors, the
university is organized into multistory. A college may hold one or more strata.
